This story, with the theme ‘My body is mine!’ is about an under-aged girl who is pressurised into an uncomfortable situation by someone she trusts. She then needs to decide how she will act in order to ensure her wellbeing. The text aims to make learners less vulnerable to manipulation by others who might not have the learners’ best interests at heart.

From the day she was born to the day she died, Albertina Sisulu lived a life of love and sacrifice. This story of a unique and powerful woman, who stood up for her beliefs no matter what, will inspire learners. Albertina Sisulu suffered many hardships in a system that was against her, but she prevailed, and Deaf South African learners might take courage from this.

Living on the Edge

This drama about three Deaf students studying at a mainstream university portrays how vulnerable financially insecure students can be, and what effect this can have on their social and academic functioning. The drama also shows how a little interest and empathy can have far-reaching effects.
The drama was filmed on a university campus, with hearing students and lecturers playing supporting roles, while the main characters are Deaf.
